Former Kraken Head Investigated for Nonprofit Hacking
The New York Times has reported that Jesse Powell, the former CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, was subject to a search in March of this year. This search was conducted as part of an investigation into the hacking of a nonprofit organization that Powell had founded.
During the search, authorities seized electronic devices belonging to Powell; however, no charges were filed against him. Insider sources indicate that federal authorities had initiated a case against former Kraken CEO during the autumn of 2022.
According to statements from The Verge Arts Center, Powell is alleged to have hacked into the organization's computer systems, thereby obstructing access to emails and other forms of communication. Brandon Fox, an attorney from Jenner & Block, acknowledged that Powell is currently under investigation but maintains that he did not engage in any wrongdoing.
